CST 349 - Week 6 Learning Journal

Part 1: Help Your Teammates to Develop Capstone Ideas

Glenn's Capstone Ideas: I think all three capstone ideas are creative and show strong potential, but the pet adoption SaaS product stood out to me the most because it not only demonstrates technical skills but also has a meaningful real-world impact. The CAD software and video game concepts are also exciting, and I admire how they connect to personal passions while offering opportunities to grow in areas like graphics, optimization, and game mechanics.

Vincent's Capstone Ideas: I think the research-focused ideas, especially on AI programming and how AI can create other AI, are fascinating because they explore cutting-edge topics that could lead to deeper understanding of emerging technology. The programming project ideas also stood out to me, particularly the game concepts, since they combine creativity with practical learning opportunities and could be both engaging and educational.

Tim's Capstone Ideas: I think all three ideas are innovative and timely, but the Agentic AI project stood out to me because of its potential to solve real-world business problems using emerging frameworks. The cybersecurity and LLM projects are also exciting, as they both focus on areas that are rapidly evolving and would provide valuable experience with tools that are highly relevant in today’s tech landscape.

Jack's Capstone Ideas: I found all three capstone ideas to be very engaging, but the brain tumor detection project stood out the most to me because it not only applies advanced computer vision and cloud computing but also has a meaningful impact on people’s lives. The bird’s song game and town hub project also seem exciting, as they would provide valuable experience with complex CS concepts and scalable software design.

Part 2: Keep Up With Your Learning Journal

This week's activities helped me gain a clearer understanding of the career preparation process through the career guide, particularly how to tailor cover letters and resumes to highlight strengths and align with specific job opportunities. I also learned the importance of developing a professional portfolio website to showcase skills and projects in a more interactive and engaging way. In addition, our team has begun working on the final presentation project by brainstorming ideas, dividing responsibilities and setting goals to ensure that we present a cohesive and polished final product. This has given me a valuable practice in both career readiness and teamwork. I feel more confident about presenting myself professionally and navigating the job search process. I am also looking forward to applying these new skills in our upcoming project presentations.
